Halliburton Charged with Selling Nuclear Technologies to Iran

According to journalist Jason Leopold, sources at former Cheney company Halliburton allege that, as recently as January of 2005, Halliburton sold key components for a nuclear reactor to an Iranian oil development company. Leopold says his Halliburton sources have intimate knowledge of the business dealings of both Halliburton and Oriental Oil Kish, one of Iran’s largest private oil companies.

Additionally, throughout 2004 and 2005, Halliburton worked closely with Cyrus Nasseri, the vice chairman of the board of directors of Iran-based Oriental Oil Kish, to develop oil projects in Iran. Nasseri is also a key member of Iran’s nuclear development team. Nasseri was interrogated by Iranian authorities in late July 2005 for allegedly providing Halliburton with Iran’s nuclear secrets. Iranian government officials charged Nasseri with accepting as much as $1 million in bribes from Halliburton for this information.

Oriental Oil Kish dealings with Halliburton first became public knowledge in January 2005 when the company announced that it had subcontracted parts of the South Pars gas-drilling project to Halliburton Products and Services, a subsidiary of Dallas-based Halliburton that is registered to the Cayman Islands. Following the announcement, Halliburton claimed that the South Pars gas field project in Tehran would be its last project in Iran. According to a BBC report, Halliburton, which took thirty to forty million dollars from its Iranian operations in 2003, “was winding down its work due to a poor business environment.”

However, Halliburton has a long history of doing business in Iran, starting as early as 1995, while Vice President Cheney was chief executive of the company. Leopold quotes a February 2001 report published in the Wall Street Journal, “Halliburton Products and Services Ltd., works behind an unmarked door on the ninth floor of a new north Tehran tower block. A brochure declares that the company was registered in 1975 in the Cayman Islands, is based in the Persian Gulf sheikdom of Dubai and is “non-American.” But like the sign over the receptionist’s head, the brochure bears the company’s name and red emblem, and offers services from Halliburton units around the world.” Moreover mail sent to the company’s offices in Tehran and the Cayman Islands is forwarded directly to its Dallas headquarters.

In an attempt to curtail Halliburton and other U.S. companies from engaging in business dealings with rogue nations such as Libya, Iran, and Syria, an amendment was approved in the Senate on July 26, 2005. The amendment, sponsored by Senator Susan Collins R-Maine, would penalize companies that continue to skirt U.S. law by setting up offshore subsidiaries as a way to legally conduct and avoid U.S. sanctions under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

A letter, drafted by trade groups representing corporate executives, vehemently objected to the amendment, saying it would lead to further hatred and perhaps incite terrorist attacks on the U.S. and “greatly strain relations with the United States primary trading partners.” The letter warned that, “Foreign governments view U.S. efforts to dictate their foreign and commercial policy as violations of sovereignty often leading them to adopt retaliatory measures more at odds with U.S. goals.”

Collins supports the legislation, stating, “It prevents U.S. corporations from creating a shell company somewhere else in order to do business with rogue, terror-sponsoring nations such as Syria and Iran. The bottom line is that if a U.S. company is evading sanctions to do business with one of these countries, they are helping to prop up countries that support terrorism—most often aimed against America.

A Very Smart Patent For Apple

Apple is one of the most innovative tech companies around, with their current patent there is no doubt that they are key at being environmentally friendly as well as technologically advanced.  Wouldn’t it be nice to have a laptop that didn’t need to be plugged in to charge?  What about taking your portable device with you into un-industrialized places?  This has been sought after for many years now and it seems that a good company is in the right place at the right time.  I look forward a self sustaining portable device.

While we wait, and wait… and wait for manufactures to perfect long-lasting fuel cells, Apple and others are pursuing at least one other approach: solar augmentation. In a patent application dated April 24, 2008 and titled “Solar cells on portable devices” attributed to a number of Apple employees, Apple reveals possible plans to integrate solar cells into devices such as iPods and MacBooks. The application describes a scenario where, “Solar cells are typically stacked with other layers made of transparent or semi-transparent materials… Some of these layers may be used for display or input purposes, and some layers may be coated with various materials or they may be etched with product logos or other patterns.” In other words, Apple is looking to cover the entire device, including the transparent display, with a layer of solar cells — the latter approach already patented by Motorola. While the efficiency of solar cells and existing manufacturing techniques call into question the immediate viability of such an approach, it’s intriguing nonetheless as a means to offset any lost battery life on the move to say, 3G.

Free Pot For Flight Passenger

Tokyo CustomsCustoms in Tokyo decided to go against regulation and use a passengers bag, instead of using a regulation bag for the training exercise.  The unfortunate event of an agent with a forgetful brain and a dog who did not use his nose, left one either lucky or unlucky passenger with 142g of marijuana.

“The dogs have always been able to find it before… I became overconfident that it would work,” he said.

“This case was extremely regrettable. I would like to deeply apologise,” said Narita International Airport’s customs head Manpei Tanaka.

Anyone finding the package has been asked to contact customs officials.

OMG Stanley Hilton Said Bush Authorized The 9/11 Attacks

I am just going to post a quote that was taken from the interview so you can hear from the horses mouth.  I find this information just appalling and stomach souring.  How could we as Americans let people like this in office?

Keep in mind when reading this, that the man being interviewed is no two-bit internet conspiracy buff.

Stanley HiltonStanley Hilton was a senior adviser to Sen Bob Dole (R) and has personally known Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz for decades. This courageous man has risked his professional reputation, and possibly his life, to get this information out to people.

“Yeah, we are suing Bush, Condoleezza Rice, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Mueller, etc. for complicity in personally not only allowing 9/11 to happen but in ordering it. The hijackers we retained and we had a witness who is married to one of them. The hijackers were U.S. undercover agents. They were double agents, paid by the FBI and the CIA to spy on Arab groups in this country. They were controlled. Their landlord was an FBI informant in San Diego and other places. And this was a direct, covert operation ordered, personally ordered by George W. Bush. Personally ordered. We have incriminating evidence, documents as well as witnesses, to this effect. It’s not just incompetence – in spite of the fact that he is incompetent. The fact is he personally ordered this, knew about it. He, at one point, there were rehearsals of this. The reason why he appeared to be uninterested and nonchalant on September 11th – when those videos showed that Andrew Card whispered in his ear the [garbled] words about this he listened to kids reading the pet goat story, is that he thought this was another rehearsal. These people had dress-rehearsed this many times. He had seen simulated videos of this. In fact, he even made a Freudian slip a few months later at a California press conference when he said he had, quote, “seen on television the first plane attack the first tower.” And that could not be possible because there was no video. What it was was the simulated video that he had gone over. So this was a personally government-ordered thing. We are suing them under the Constitution for violating Americans’ rights, as well as under the federal Fraudulent Claims Act, for presenting a fraudulent claim to Congress to justify the bogus Iraq boondoggle war, for political gains. And also, under the RICO statute, under the Racketeering Corrupt Organization Act, for being a corrupt entity. And I’ve been harassed personally by the chief judge of the federal court who is instructing me personally to drop this suit, threatened to kick me off the court, after 30 years on the court. I’ve been harassed by the FBI. My staff has been harassed and threatened. My office has been broken into and this is the kind of government we are dealing with.”

Oil hit $135 today

Oil on water

Oil took the highest rate hike ever today and there seems to be no stopping it. Today a report came out stating that there is a supply drop happening.  With the price for gas hitting the $4.00 mark in some places, it seems that there is just no stopping what seems to be an endless hand in our pockets.  We as consumers are highly to blame.  I know you don’t like to skimp out on driving to your local drive through Starbucks but please people stop and think what is happening to our economy.  We are paying for damn near everything at such a high price because we are demanding so much.  I would like to let you know that over 2,000,000 plastic bottles are consumed per day.  Do you know what that is going to do for our environment?  What it is doing now?  That same simple minded mentality is driving our country to become poor.

Just too much consumerism is happening and we can simply change it by demanding better and being smarter about what we do that effects our economy and environment.  Crude oil prices started surging after the dollar lost its true value.  Now a report is telling us that we are down more than 3 million barrels of crude oil that we have as surplus.  So there you go a double whammy.

Please let us help each other out and be more conscious when we drive/consume.

An Attempt

An attempt to pass along information is always en endevor that not all people would like.  Time and some money is always put into these things and not all of us have both to spare.  I personaly don’t have money but I do have time.  A goal of mine is to provide quality information with as little funding as possible.  Hey there is an idea! Why not tell you how I do this.  Well to start WordPress.com is free to sign up for and is also quite simple to use.  Over time you can improve the design by adding your very own custom CSS design or even add more space.  We all need more space right?  Not everyone you say, good for you.

I do plan on eventually adding more space.  Why you ask? Well I plan on providing media on this site.  Maybe I can even do a weekly podcast that you might enjoy or even despise.  Grant me the time and I will give you information, some you need and don’t need.  A piece of information for you though,  we are all interested in something so if you share with me I would be glad to share with you.  Feel free to send me information and if I choose your post I will post links to your site and or article.
